Requires an RFID card. Earlier post said you just plug in and charge. I plugged in and the charger beeped and the display asked to place the RFID card on the charger base. No card, no power. Or, did I miss something?

I think that comment was back in June. Many early units were simply turned on we think and working at the time. Sema Charge, Blink and Chargepoint and a couple other have id cards. The Clipper Creek units and Eaton units don’t typically use a RFID card. We think at some point the majority of Level 2 charging will simply be free. For right now the market will figure itself out in these early days :)

I charged my Volt at one of the two charge stations on April 27, 2013. It worked fine and I did not need to use a RFID card. One of the two charge stations has been broken for a while. When I spoke to the mall information person a few weeks earlier she told me that someone was supposed to be coming out to install a new cord, though she did not seem to be very well informed on the subject. When I returned to my car on the 27th there was another Volt there with the charge door left open. I plugged it in before I left. From time to time I see other EV’s left with their charge doors closed. That is a shame because I always look to plug in another EV if I can.

I charged my Volt here on 6/30/12.

The chargers are right in front of Sports Athority on the norht side of the mall (great parking spots especially if the mall is crowded) you can access the mall by entering through Sports Athority. Once in the mall hang a right to find the food court if you are killing time and want to eat or hang a left to find Dave and Busters.

I was the only one there. There are 3 EV charging parking spaces but only 2 chargers (still better than one or none at all). They were working.

By the way, the directions are fine in getting you to the general area (N side of mall), but the “pin” here is misleading, once you have reached the mall. We kept making U turns trying to find the chargers, only to find that there was an error…or else that one must use directions only to get in the general vicinity — and then need to switch to landmarks to locate the stations.

There are two Chargepro (not Chargepoint) level 2 chargers here. They are in the mall parking lot about 40m north of the exterior entrance to Sports Authority, which is in the center of the north side of the mall (near 4th st). You just hook up and charge. There is no card to swipe. Charged my Leaf here 24 June.
